We are a group of mountain bike (MTB) riders that do most of our riding in the Mole Valley and the Surrey Hills, basically around Box Hill and Ranmore near Dorking with forays further afield to the Leith Hill, Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill areas.

We're lucky enough to live close to some of the best mountain biking trails in the South East and there's something for everybody - from all day rides to sweet singletrack and lumpy technical bits.

We're not particularly fit, we're not exactly skilled and we're not that young, we just go out and have fun and enjoy meeting similarly minded people along the way.

If you're new to mountain biking or an old hand, or just visiting the area, we hope you find this site useful.

Just came across yout site-very nice. I rode alot with Cycleworks+friends approx 5 years ago-over similar routes you describe.
Anyone remember me? Neil/IKEA-still riding a KLEIN full suspension and living in Westerham.

Hi Neil, Dave here. I remember you, I seem to recall your battle cry was "I know a good route, it's just over here......no....over here....here maybe..." ;o) All the best!

Dave Leonard says:

Hi chaps, yes we (as you say) are not too fit, young or good at it. But we do have good clean and dirty fun! Just done the South Downs point to point and we all finished. At the moment we ride at the lookout at Bracknell great fun but we are looking for other rides what's Surrey Hills like? We are near the start of the M3 so it's not too bad to get there.

Matt says:

Dave, thanks for the comments.

Have to recommend the Surrey Hills pretty highly if you are happy to travel - it's certainly not as far as the South Downs and the riding around Leith and Holmbury Hills is excellent.

We'd be happy to show you round the area sometime so drop us a line and we'll try and arrange something.

Hi I am new to mountain biking after entering a night bike race in South Africa. I would like to join a group of riders. Is Muddymoles a male only domain. Would love to hear from you.
Yvonne
Maybe later my husband would like to join. He has a long way to go although he did 25k night ride in Karkloof S.A. he has the T-Shirt to prove it...-:)

Dave says:

Hi Yvonne,

No we're not a male only domain but not many females ride with us. There are a few and more are always welcome.

Use the link at the bottom of the page to email Matt and we'll try to sort something out.

Derek says:

Just found the site whilst researching alternative venues to QE and Leith/Holmbury, Rogate looks good, I'm definitely not young but reasonably fit and enthusiastic. How do you get to this place and where to park ?

Andy C says:

Hi Derek,
We don't get out to Rogate very often, as it's about an hour's drive for most of us, and the lack of an uplift puts us lazy buggers off. Here's some details & directions.

Directions from London:
Follow A3 south to the Petersfield, Sheet and junction (A272 to Midhurst).
At first Roundabout turn left into Sheet.
Follow B2070 for approx 3 miles until you see a pub on the right hand side.
Turn Right before the pub and follow country road for approx 1 mile to T junction.
At junction turn left and follow road down hill.
Parking is on the left next in layby.
