A review of the impressive Intense 5.5 EVP, on Matt's shopping list. After he takes it out for a good ride, what does he think?

On the radio at the moment are a series of ads running for Thorpe Park. The theme of all the ads is that going to Thorpe Park is the very definition of fun, and everything else isn’t. In one of the ads is the question “is cycling fun”, to which the ad gives the answer...

Either that or they just have got it right. The deed has been done, 16" and sparkle laquer on a Passion Red base coat. I'm pimping the Five up so much I may well have Huggy Bear knocking on my door asking me to ease off....

As I've mentioned previously, I'm looking for a new bike and took the opportunity of the Cycleworks Demo Day to try out a few contenders. Unfortunately for me, the ride I had round the Holmbury Hill trails on the Intense 5.5 EVP was compromised by an oversized frame and an odd choice of components. The...

I didn't get out on the trails this weekend. Since it was Mother's Day I decided to spend my Sunday with my wife and family instead, a noble act of selfless charity. Well, that's what I told my wife anyway. Despite the violent gusts of wind (mercifully, for a change, not the result of Dave's...

The image of bike riding

It's an old rant among many in the bike world that motorists have it in for them on the public roads and that ramblers have a similar antipathy toward Mountain Bikers. To counteract the negative vibe, many bikers advocate a 'be polite and set an example' approach when they're out on the trails. Over the...

Well, as has been documented, on March 11 the Muddymoles made their way over to Holmbury St. Mary for the annual Cycleworks Demo Day which, through careful planning did not fall on Mothering Sunday for a change. As a result, Mark and myself were able to attend almost guilt free. This particular mole has a...

Justin Evans of Home In Brighton just happened to be in the right place, at the right time and with his camera ready when a group of riders supporting the World Naked Bike Ride Day passed him in Brighton. Visit the Home In Brighton website to see the resulting photos of the WNBR Day....

A Mountain Biking blog with a difference

I was having a read of some Mountain Biking blogs Wednesday evening and came across this amusing piece of writing from Al Leigh. It's a rare event when you can find someone bemoaning their current riding injury before cutting (almost) seamlessly to an explanation on why cows look so po-faced. And yes, cutting is probably...

My plan for the Cycleworks Demo Day was simple. Try 3 full suss bikes and just enjoy riding them. The contrast between them and my trusty Nail Trail was what I was looking to test....

My commute into work takes me along the A24 to Dorking, past Box Hill and the Denbies vinyard and escarpment. Driving in this morning, the weather is warm and dry, the hawthorn hedges are just about to burst into life, the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Perfect conditions in fact to put...

The other day an article popped up in my newsfeed outlining the true cost of a latte every morning on the way to work. Now, first of all, this article was in $ but it does go to show the stupefying effects of compound interest over the course of 25 years in a very effective...

Today the Muddymoles made the trip over to Holmbury Hill for the annual Cycleworks Demo Day and were rewarded by a splendid Spring morning's worth of riding fun. I've added some photos to Flickr giving a flavour of the event....

Following on from my recent post about cyclists being a bit, well, weird my attention was caught this morning by mention on the radio about World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) Day. Apart from the opportunity to link to a site that shows pictures of naked people on bikes, the organisers have a serious point to...

OK, so it's a bit later than I intended to post this but just to say that Cycleworks are having their annual Demo Day this Sunday, 11 March at Holmbury Hill. They plan to have bikes from Whyte, Marin, Specialized, Orange and Intense available for people to try, so it should be a great opportunity...

It's not often that people take the trouble to review Magura products, being seen as a general 'workhorse' brand rather than part of the bling brigade. Bikemagic though have just posted a review of the 2007 Magura Menja forks and very good they seem too. Considering they're available in a wide range of colours and...
