RaceFace Deus XC Chainset follow up

Following my disaster at finding my RaceFace bottom bracket shell welded firmly onto the hollow axle of my RaceFace Deus XC cranks I took my bag of bits along to Cycleworks in Leatherhead in the full expectation of needing to go shopping in the not too distant future.
Two things occurred when I got there. First, Dave didn't seem remotely surprised by the fact that my RaceFace bottom bracket had failed so comprehensively and actually seemed to think 1100 miles on it was pretty good.
Secondly, and more importantly, he wasn't fazed by the problem either. I thought it was a bin job but he just took his Dremmel (carefully) to the bottom bracket shell and five minutes later handed me my crankarm sans problem.
At home I took some wet and dry to the axle to get rid of the rusty rim of muck still remaining and fitted my new Hope bottom bracket and RaceFace combo onto the bike with copious amounts of grease.
I'm not exactly confident for the future as the axle is quite pitted from the damage caused by the RaceFace bottom bracket and I haven't had the chance to ride the bike yet. But at least I haven't had to spend more money just yet and we'll have to wait and see how it goes from here.

Not slumming it at all Colin, in fact if I HAD to have one bike I would happily settle for the On-one (with a bit of extra pimping!).
It's not perfect but that's just spec issues on the fork really - the frame/geometry just makes you want to go for it. I was definitely enjoying myself last night as well!!
I wish I had the time to ride both the On-one and Orange more...

Good news Matt. I commented in your previous post about you having slum it with us hardtail riders...
However, on last night's ride up on Pitch and Winterfold (big up to Singlespeed Mark for leading), I got the feeling you were having a ball getting a bit of airtime on the On-One.
So maybe not such an inconvenience to be back on it afterall?
I still think you could have fitted those wide bars between the two trees that [narrowly] flank the jump on Xmas Pudding though.
