Just a short notice to let riders know that the bottom of Alsation is currently blocked by a heavy fall of ivy and tree matter. I passed it this morning and it's definitely not ridable!

Update

Rode past Sunday and the tree has been cleared. Watch out coming down though as it still sticks out a bit but it is now passable

The natural barrier is right at the bottom near the house, pretty much exactly where DaveC had to lay his bike down this time last year for the same reason… so watch your speed down there as there's no way round it either. Basically, until the trail pixies get out and clear it you'll have to get off and clamber over.

In fact, there was quite a bit of tree-fall around this morning although nothing else on that scale. But leaves and mud have rapdily replaced dry dust. The Colley Hill descent was frankly scary, all exposed, wet slippery chalk. Be careful out there.

Colin says:

Thanks for the heads-up Matt. Not a place where you want to meet a tree when you're hooning it down there flat out.

I've just phoned Surrey County Council to report it and they'll send 'a team' out to remove it.

08456 009 009 option 5 for future ref.

On a similar subject, if anyone wants to report fly-tipping on bridleways or footpaths, the man to report to is Chris Elliott at Mole Valley District Council on 01306 873553.

Matt says:

Well done Colin, good move.

I thought there really were trail pixies that sorted out these things, didn't realise my council tax helps pay for my fun!
