My Mum's old Polo has been in my drive for ages. The MOT has about 6 weeks to go, but there is 6 months tax on it. I have had it tested and it needs some minor work, for which we have been quoted 200 quid.

In addition, the passenger side electric window is not working.

The bodywork is in good nick, in a nice rich metalic blue. It is the saloon type, with a massive boot (fits bike with front wheel off and seats down). Economical 1.9 DIESEL.

If anyone can be @rsed with this kind of thing, you could have a decent car worth over a grand for not that much time or effort. Make us an offer.

Failing that, it's going in the auction this week.

D-dub

What year is DW?

I've got a nephew who is about to start driving.

It is a 2001 Y reg.

My sister and brother-in-law owned it from 2003 and I have all receipts since then.

They went to live in Singapore about a year ago, which is when she gave it to my Mum.

Have a look?

(I want to take it over to the auction house tomorrow, ready for the Wednesday auction if no one is interested).

Dave

Hmmm - just called Dingwalls Auction and they need me to bring the car in between 9:30 and 5 today or tomorrow for Wednesday evening's auction, making it impractical as I don't expect to get anywhere near my daily rate for it. Looks like I won't be dropping it off until the weekend - so if you are interested, let me know.

I've been asked to expect 300 for this at auction. Any offers here to save me the trip?

Dave, you mentioned there are few minor things that need to be done... Any ideas what? Is it drivable at the moment?

This is probably taken now, by Huey from diaryofamountainbiker. I have agreed to get the MOT work done (subject to the retest being done for free) and let him have it for 500 notes.

The work for the MOT is minor - I don't remember the details. A leaky rear brake, new pads where they have been leaked on and a steering part.

Also the passenger electric window doesn't work, but that isn't an MOT issue.

It drives beautifully. I drove it up from Cornwall and it used sod all fuel and was very comfortable, with that effortless torque you only really get from diesels (and 3 litre plus petrol) cars.

All academic now though, assuming the sale goes through.
