Yet another example of the work of the low life scum who proliferate this country these days.
Useful article putting us on guard though I worry this will give other such tw8ts the same idea.

Whoa! Tony sent me this today and I haven’t had a chance to reply yet but this is shocking.
Unfortunately the ‘low life scum’ could be anyone from smart ass kids (it’s the school holidays…) to disgruntled country gents thinking they own the place. Very very disturbing.
I have no time for this kind of sabotage full stop. Let’s hope it’s stamped out pretty quick.
In the meantime, keep your eyes open and take it easy on the fast descents…

OMG!!!!!! That is WW2 stuff. Good job Matt leads the downhill bits. Very scary indeed, why would someone do that, eyes peeled and look for people watching us descending as the criminals often watch(you tube?) as to what happens.

I cycled into work on the NDW on that date and am glad I didn’t encounter this wire.
Strangely, at the big crossroads on the NDW just east of Hollister Farm, I was puzzled to see a long length of black tape across the track at about head height, with a plastic bottle in it – to make it more easily visible.
Interestingly, it was still there when I came back that evening!
Glad it wasn’t something nastier, but I will keep a careful lookout in future.
