Muddymoles mountain biking in the Surrey Hills and Mole Valley

Cycleworks Demo Day 2009

Posted by Matt | March 3, 2009 | Leave a comment

OK, this isn’t really news since Cycleworks have been advertising it for some time but just a short reminder to riders that this weekend (Sunday 8 March) is the annual Cycleworks demo day in the Surrey Hills.

Update

Just found out about the filming work happening on Holmbury Hill this same weekend. The Holmbury YHA car park is closed as a result so parking will be tight with Felday Glade being used for the Demo Day.

As usual they have a range of bikes available, including the Orange Five, Blood AM/FR and Alpine 160 models which should prove more than adequate for the Holmbury trails. Also available are bikes from Whyte (including the E-120 and 19), Specialized and Marin so there’s plenty to try.

In the past the day has featured hourly rides throughout the day of about 40-50 minutes duration, punctuated by plenty of home made cakeage to keep everyone fully fueled. As far as I know the format will be the same this year too so if you’re planning a new bike purchase why not contact Cycleworks to arrange a ride on a bike that interests you?

For myself, I’m in two minds about going, mainly because I’m not in the market for a new bike and I’m still more than happy with my Orange Five (which I got from Cycleworks) and On-one Inbred. On the other hand, the chance to ride and review the Orange Blood AM is tempting and if they happen to have the ST4 I’d be interested in that as a contrast.

Rides start from the WI Hall car park at Felday Glade in Holmbury St. Mary. I know from previous years that it’s important to bring a helmet and ID before you’ll be allowed out to play!

An early On-One Inbred still lurks in the back of the stable as a reminder of how things have moved on. You can even find him on road bikes - currently a 2019 Cannondale Topstone 105 SE, a much-used 2011 Specialized Secteur and very niche belt drive Trek District 1.

If you've ever wondered how we got into mountain biking and how the MuddyMoles started, well wonder no more.
