Ride report: Day 2 brought the sunshine out

Posted by Cathie (aka Lost Lass) | January 2, 2011 | 1 comment so far

Today had us basking in some glorious sunshine even though it was a bit nippy, I have noted that it rained on Saturday and is Sunny on the Sunday and am wondering if the fe-moles laughter about the moles always getting rainy Sundays and the fe-moles getting sunny Saturdays during 2010 maybe about to serve us right for laughing but we’ll see 😉

Today’s ride started up at Bockett’s farm at 9am, expecting to see Catherine and Rachel it was a lovely surprise to see Emma as well who has cycled with the Moles a few times but decided to join the ladies today with her new bike.

I did make sure I asked Emma what her new bike was because Dave would just shake his head at me if I told him it was a red and white Specialized, however Dave asked after Emma’s new bike and only asked me what colour it was and was rather surprised that I was able to tell him the model too 😉

We did the same route as yesterday, I thought it was such a good ride to blow the cobwebs away and everyone was happy with the suggestion so we headed towards Crabtree and were able to show Emma a route she hadn’t been on before.

The “girls favourite” was just beautiful this morning in the Sunshine, from there along to Denbies and the view across Dorking was stunning.

I did start to feel the fact I had ridden yesterday as well and that I hadn’t had any breakfast.

Along through Ranmore down past Yew Trees and up past Polesden Lacey, down Admirals track and back to the carpark.

Not a very technical ride but a good couple of hours back in the saddle and getting those legs and lungs working 😉

Door to door another 16 miles for me today and so lovely to be back out on the bike, being out having a great time and home all before the time I used to get up on a Sunday morning – Wonderful morning!

A great ride ladies Thank you, looking forward to next weekend already 😉

About the author

Cathie was introduced to mountain biking by Dave about 9 years ago but only really been riding regularly since May 2008 when she invested in a new hard tail (a white On-One classic Inbred), a wise investment as a result of being able to trial different bikes at Cycle Works demo day at Holmbury-St-Mary. She also rides a full suspension Giant Cypher which was this year's treat and saw many miles during the summer of 2010.

Cathie has attended skills days with Dirt Divas at Swinley Forest, she would like to improve her skills on bomb holes and her favourite trails are the ride over to Newlands corner loving "Whitedown" and a favourite trail through Denbies.

Cathie loves meeting other female riders of all fitness levels and experience and is hoping for less punctures in 2011 now that both bikes are wearing tubeless tyres!

Well Cathie, It seems the weather gods are slowly turning their favours on the Sunday Moles as we saw a glimmer of sun when descending White Down and also at the cake stop up at Newlands Corner.

Mind you, your “Old man” experienced some darker moments with a series of scary mechanical noises from his drive train area and the gut wrenching sound of air escaping from his tubeless tyres on the way back home along the NDW!

Overall though another great Sunday ride of about 22 miles.
